Marissa Kalkman M.S.

Marissa Kalkman serves as the learning and engagement manager for the Kern National Network for Flourishing in Medicine (KNN). The KNN is a national movement with the aspirational goal to transform the profession of medicine and to ignite a positive culture change that helps individuals, communities and society flourish. The KNN advances this work in the following ways: connecting and convening stakeholders across the health care ecosystem, catalyzing transformative initiatives, and influencing policy and systems change. Marissa is a trusted learning and leadership development advisor with professional experience spanning health education, employee well-being, nonprofit administration, organizational leadership, and curated learning and development experiences for students and professionals. As an aspiring social scientist and doctoral student with almost 20 years of professional experience, Marissa has a professional mission to be a systems-thinking developer of people and strategy—elevating and advancing the notion that our workplaces, learning environments and leaders are responsible for creating more access and support for people to live their potential and experience flourishing across their lives. She does her best work when she is supporting leaders and learners through consultative problem-solving, generating ideas, implementing strategies for big impact, and coaching and mentoring others. Marissa earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology and public health education and a master’s degree in health promotion and health education from Indiana University. She has served as an adjunct faculty member in the Department of Health Sciences for Purdue University Global. Marissa is a master certified health education specialist (MCHES) and a certified wellness practitioner (CWP), and she has completed professional coach training. Marissa is currently pursuing a doctoral degree studying leadership and change.
