J. Nwando Olayiwola M.D., M.P.H.

Dr. Olayiwola is an experienced, an accomplished, and a transformational primary care physician and health care executive with a track record of leadership in community health, academic, private, managed care, and corporate environments. She currently serves as the inaugural chief health equity officer and senior vice president of Humana, Inc.—a role she commenced in April 2021. Prior to this, she served as the professor and chair of the Department of Family Medicine and the chief of Family Health Services at The Ohio State University, where she also founded the Center for Primary Care Innovation and Transformation. Dr. Olayiwola is internationally renowned as a board-certified family physician; public health professional; health systems redesign leader; savvy business leader; workforce diversity, inclusion, and health equity champion; and primary care transformation pioneer. She is an accomplished health executive with extensive operational and strategic leadership experience, having led departments with 15 to 500 staff members; built high-performing clinical, administrative, and research teams; and managed budgets ranging from $4 million to $35 million. Dr. Olayiwola is a respected operational leader who is also an innovator and expert in harnessing technology and creative solutions to increase access to care for underserved and disenfranchised populations. She is a tireless advocate for women across the globe and designs numerous highly impactful programs that improve the lives and health of women. In October 2022, she was inducted to the National Academy of Medicine, which is one of the most prestigious honors in health care.
